World number one Victoria Azarenka says she wants to finish the year on a high after claiming her first title in seven months at the China Open on Sunday.
The Belarussian, who started 2012 brilliantly winning the Australian Open and recorded 26 consecutive victories, defeated Maria Sharapova 6-3, 6-1 in Beijing and now she’s setting her sights on more glory as the year comes to a close.
“I have two more tournaments to play, it’s going to be about 10 more matches, so I’m looking forward to maximising that potential in all of them,” Azarenka said.
“It’s just going to be the last two pushes.
“I’m actually really happy that at the end of the year I am still able to have that determination I had in the beginning of the year and the desire to go out there and win and show my best tennis, to progress throughout difficult times physically and mentally.”
Next up for Azarenka is the 2012 Generali Ladies Linz in Austria, where she’ll compete against Ana Ivanovic and Dominika Cibulkova for the title.
