During the said round, Spain will go head to head against Serbia. Nadal will definitely lead the Spanish team even after he pulled out of the Dubai Tennis Championship which is to be held next week. He pulled out of the tournament because of a bit of strain on his right leg. He opted to rest it so as to prepare for the upcoming Davis Cup which will be in March 6-8.

Apart from Nadal, Spain’s Davis Cup captain Aberto Costa has chosen Feliciano Lopez, David Ferrer, and Tommy Robredo. Reports indicate that Robredo and Lopez are slated to be partners for doubles.

The injury Nadal has sustained is located just below his right knee. This is the same knee which ailed him during the final round of the Davis Cup held during November of last year. During that Davis Cup, the Spanish team defeated Argentina and earned its third title in a span of eight years.

Nadal’s memorable opponent during the Australian Open, Fernando Verdasco, will sit out the tournament this time around due to an ankle injury he acquired.

Rafael Nadal will most likely face Novak Djokovic during the competition. After the Davis Cup, Nadal still plans to participate at the Indian Wells.
