Robredo is named after the rock opera "Tommy" by The Who, of which his father is a big fan. His favorite surface is red clay, and he considered his forehand to be his best shot. His childhood tennis idol was Stefan Edberg, and he also admired players like John McEnroe and Pete Sampras. Robredo is a supporter of FC Barcelona. On November 16, 2019, he married his long-time girlfriend, Patricia Berga Alzamora, and they have one child, a daughter born in 2021.

Professional Career

Tommy Robredo turned professional in 1998. He won 12 singles titles and five doubles titles on the ATP Tour. He achieved his career-high singles ranking of World No. 5 in August 2006 after winning the Hamburg Masters.

Robredo was a consistent performer at Grand Slam tournaments, reaching the quarterfinals at the French Open five times (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2013), the Australian Open once (2007), and the US Open once (2013). His victory in the 2004 ATP Finals was a career highlight. He holds a unique record in the Open Era for mounting three consecutive comebacks from two sets down, a feat he achieved at the French Open in 2013.

In doubles, he was a three-time semifinalist at the US Open and a semifinalist at the Australian Open in mixed doubles. Robredo was a member of Spain's winning Davis Cup team in 2004, 2008, and 2009, and he also won the Hopman Cup for Spain in 2002 and 2010.
