Chelsea will, for the second time this week play hosts to Manchester United, this time around for a Capital One Cup 4th round knockout fixture. The game will commence at 1945 GMT on the 31st of October, 2012.
After a very heated encounter just a couple of days ago Chelsea has their chance for redemption. Super Sunday saw these two heavyweights take on each other in a highly controversial and intense match where Manchester United came out on top.
The game was marred by some horrendous refereeing decisions, but what is done is done. These two footballing titans will pick themselves up and play a much anticipated game that will see referee Lee Mason preside over the action in the middle.
As card suspensions spill over between the Capital One Cup and the Barclays Premier League, Fernando Torres and Branislav Ivanovic will miss the game. Frank Lampard is out due to injury and John Terry will continue to serve his four match ban.
Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking to rest his shining striking duo of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie for this game and give super sub Chicharito Hernandez a run alongside Welbeck.
Most of the big names from each side will be rested due to an intense and heavy month of fixtures lined up for both the teams. This means that loads of youngsters will be given a chance to play in a derby game which will boost their confidence and make them strive to do better.
Form guide:
Chelsea: L,L,W,W,W Manchester United: W,W,W,W,W
Probable Line-ups:
Chelsea: Cech, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Luiz, Ferreira, Mikel, Ramires, Bertrand, Marin, Moses, Sturridge.
Manchester United: Lindegaard, Buttner, Evans, Wootton, Rafael, Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverly, Nani, Hernandez, Welbeck.
My Prediction: Difficult to call this game given all that has gone around these two teams three days ago but Chelsea will be marginally favourites to win it.
