Wayne Rooney is a England international football player who currently feature for the English and European giants Manchester United. He plays as a forward and is regarded as one of the best players in the world.
Rooney developed at the youth academy of Liverpool-based club Everton and made his debut for the first team on August 17, 2002 in a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park.
His first goals for the first team came on October 2 when he scored twice against Wrexham in the League Cup and later that month found the target in the final minutes against Arsenal in the Premier League to end the Gunners’ 30-match unbeaten run.
Rooney continued to go from strength to strength after that and it was soon clear that he was outgrowing Everton. Manchester United came calling in the summer of 2004 and signed him for £25.6 million, making the Englishman the most expensive teenager at the time. He left Everton having scored 15 goals in 67 league matches.
