Team history

Wayne Rooney is Englands greatest talent and It will be a long time before England produce a player nearly as good as Wayne. At 27 years of age, Wayne is still young and constantly improving. In recent times since the signing of Robin Van Persie, Wayne has dropped into the centre of midfield, a role which he has perfected very well. When he first arrived at Manchster United in 2004 he was scoring a lot of goals, which was great, however in recent seasons he has failed to be as prolific as he once was. During the course of these recent years a lot people have questioned whether he has the ability to still perform at the top level for club and also country. These people have very little football knowledge. Wayne’s role in the team has changed making it harder for him to score goals. His work rate is tremendous as often you see him on the edge of his own 18 yard box defending an attack which he soon changes into a brilliant counter attack. Sir Alex Ferguson knows in Wayne Rooney, he has the complete player. After Ronaldo left the club in 2009, people questioned whether Wayne could come up with the goods. He proved a lot of people wrong as in the 09/10 season he scored 26 goals in the Barclay’s Premier League. What people don’t know is, that this was the last time Wayne has been the front man as in recent seasons he has played a little deeper and been the provider. I am positive if Wayne was to next season play the furthest up top he would again produce a huge goal tally, however it is unlikely he will because he is needed elsewhere with the amount of quality he possesses. When people talk about Messi and Ronaldo being the best footballers in the world, I think it is unfair that Wayne is not included with them. Yes they are great footballers but so is Wayne, you just have to ask yourself, what can’t Wayne do? He can tackle, pass, score, good in the air, great vision, good set pieces, powerful and an amazing touch. It is very hard to pick out an area for improvement where as with Messi and Ronaldo you could question their ability to hit a 40 yard pass or Messi’s aggression along with physical strength. I said about Waynes vision which Messi is very good with, but Ronaldo could improve a lot on his vision. To conclude, Wayne Rooney is the complete player, there’s minimal area for improvement of his game, for people to appreciate Wayne Rooney they need to look past his goal ratio to notice how great he really is, I see it as goals being an extra/ bonus with Wayne Rooney.
