QPR vs. Swansea: Premier League Betting Preview
Sure to be a terrific atmosphere at Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon following a summer of heavy investment at Queens Park Rangers and the home fans are tipped to have something to cheer about at full-time.
Rangers only held on to their Premier League status by the skin of their teeth in May, despite a final day defeat at Eastlands, but manager Mark Hughes has opened the club’s chequebook this summer and overall his acquisitions looks shrewd.
On Friday Jose Bosingwa became Hughes’ latest signing and the former Chelsea man joins the likes of Ji-Sung Park and Fabio, both from Old Trafford, in west London.
Hughes has also added England goalkeeper Robert Green and rising star Junior Hoillet to his playing staff, among others, and surely QPR will have too much about them this term to be involved in a relegation battle.
January signing Djibril Cisse made an instant impact with six top flight goals in just eight matches too and if the Frenchman can stay off the treatment table, and remain suspension-free, then it could be a very good season indeed for QPR.
Saturday’s opponents, Swansea City, finished ten points above their hosts last term but have seen manager Brendan Rodgers depart for Liverpool and it could take a while to adjust under new boss Michael Laudrup.
I expect the Swans to be OK but they have lost Joe Allen to Anfield too, replacing him with Spaniard Michu, and could be up against it this weekend.
QPR have been fairly well-backed ahead of the opening round of fixtures, it’s easy to see why, but the 2.10 still available is more than acceptable and they won the corresponding fixture 3-0 last season at a canter.
