Four of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finalists have been decided, but there’s more big clashes to come with several of the title favourites in action on Tuesday night.>
Bayern Munich v Inter Milan @ Allianz Arena
First Leg Inter Milan 0 Bayern Munich 1 (Gomez 90’)
Form Bayern’s recent form has not been great, to the point where it’s been agreed boss Louis van Gaal will depart the club at the end of the season. Recent league defeats to Dortmund and Hannover have left FCB in fourth in the Bundesliga, out of the title race and in danger of missing out on next season’s Champions League. They also recently bowed out of the DFB Pokal, making it appear this could be a season without silverware. They did get back on track with a 6-0 win over Hamburg SV on the weekend with Arjen Robben scoring a hat-trick.
European champions Inter Milan had won their past four Serie A matches prior to the weekend’s 1-1 draw with Brescia. Inter remain second in Serie A, five points behind leaders AC Milan. The Nerazzurri also have hope of silverware in the Coppa Italia as they are in the semi finals. Samuel Eto’o has been in fine goalscoring form of late for Leonardo’s improved side.
Team news There’s few concerns for van Gaal heading into this game, with only long-term absentee Ivica Olic unavailable due to cartilage damage.
For Inter, ex-Bayern defender Lucio has a buttock concern but should be okay to take his place at his former home. Esteban Cambiasso is touch and go after a thigh injury, while last season’s Champions League final hero Diego Milito> is close to fitness after a thigh problem which has kept him out since February.
Coaches Louis van Gaal: “We had a very good game against Hamburg and it was a very important victory, so we have renewed confidence in ourselves, but Inter are very strong opponents; we have to be very careful.”
Leonardo: “I do not think either team has an advantage tomorrow and we have already got a clear strategy. I won’t and I can’t promise anything, but we will play with a lot of confidence, passion and desire. We know we have to be in our best shape tomorrow but I can see a lot of motivation.”

Form After successive league defeats to Chelsea and Liverpool, Manchester United got back on track with an important 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup on the weekend. Wayne Rooney found the back of the net again, while Edwin van der Sar starred too. Despite their recent form slump the Red Devils are still top of the Premier League, three points ahead of second-placed Arsenal who have a game in hand.
Marseille claimed an important victory on the weekend too, 2-0 at second-placed Stade Rennes in Ligue 1 with Marseille:Loic Remy and Lucho Gonzalez> scoring the goals. The weekend before OM had lost to leaders Lille 2-1. Prior to that OM had won their past four in Ligue 1 and been unable in their previous nine. Marseille are now fourth, four points behind Lille in a tight title race. Les Phoceens are also in the final of the Coupe de la Ligue against Montpellier to be played in late April.
Team news United star midfielder Nani could be a chance to play on Tuesday despite suffering a badly gashed leg against Liverpool 10 days ago. Antonio Valencia returned in the weekend’s win over Arsenal after a long-term ankle injury and should be fit to play some part.

| Marseille should be boosted by the return to fitness of attacking duo Marseille | Mathieu Valbuena (knee) and Marseille:Andre-Pierre Gignac> (ankle). |
Coaches Sir Alex Ferguson: “Marseille will try and hit us on the break, but there are lots of ways of counterattacking in the modern game. It’s my first time up against Didier so I’ve not got enough knowledge of him to say how he’ll approach the game.”
Didier Deschamps: “If you look at the stats then it looks a difficult task: Manchester United have not been beaten at home for [24] games and have only conceded one goal in seven Champions League matches this season. On paper you’d expect them to qualify but we’ve got every chance as well – football’s not played on paper.”
