Milan are currently confronting some severe problems in their backline as their key defender Alessandro Nesta is suffering from a chronic back problem. Nesta is currently out injured and although there are reports suggesting that the Italian international defender could still have to end his career prematurely.
This has led Milan to do some quick thinking and commit themselves to defensive reinforcements. It has been reported that Milan are eager to lure Philippe Mexes to the San Siro from AS Roma and are ready to offer cash plus Daniele Bonera, Marek Jankulovski or maybe even Yoann Gourcuff to Roma.
Milan did sign young Brazilian defender Thiago Silva but the Brazilian is unable to play for the club until the end of the season due to Milan having filled their quota of non-EU players for the season.
