Promising Australian Bernard Tomic says he feels “unstoppable” ahead of the Australian Open after knocking off world number one Novak Djokovic and winning the Sydney International already this year.

The 20-year-old has started 2013 in brilliant fashion, undefeated, after three wins at the Hopman Cup where he beat Djokovic and then clinching his first tour title by defeating South Africa’s Kevin Anderson in the final of the Sydney International.

Tomic, known as a major tour talent, now heads into the Australian Open as a huge local favourite. He’ll play Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer in the first round but could meet Roger Federer in the third, however he doesn’t seem short on confidence.

“Anything (is possible at the Australian Open). I’ve got a good opponent in the first round and I’m playing great tennis and who knows from there,” Tomic said.

“I feel unstoppable. I feel like I’m playing great tennis and when you know no-one can beat you – not even the number one – you’ve got a good feeling and it’s amazing stepping on court, you’re so confident.

“That’s going to be taken down to Melbourne. I’m going to use that for every match I play there and I’m going to try and do as best I can.”
