Leonardo Mayer
Leonardo Mayer is a professional tennis player from Argentina who was born on May 15, 1987 in Corrientes. He now currently resides in Buenos Aires. He is currently the World’s No. 64 which is his highest achieved rank by far.
Mayer joined in the U.S Open tournament in New York last August 2008. He competed against Brydan Klein from Australia and won, but he was later defeated by Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan. By June last year, he competed in the Wimbledon tournament in Great Britain but unfortunately lost to Santiago Gonzalez.
In March 2009, he joined the ATP World Tour Masters in Miami but lost to Rik De Voest from Italy. He competed in his first Grand Slam in the French Open this year. He defeated James Blake from the United States in the first round. But in the second round, he lost to Tommy Haas from Germany. He was also in the Wimbledon and defeated Puerto Rican Oscar Hernandez. He unfortunately lost to Fernando Gonzalez from Chile in the second round.
Mayer currently ranks No. 92 in the world as of November 15, 2010.
