Ana Ivanovic is getting a feel for the courts of the French Open, hitting a couple of aces that has the eight-seeded Serb feeling more and more comfortable with her play, despite falling a couple of rungs after she became the number one player with her victory at Roland Garros last year. She has recently advanced to the third round after her defeat of 32-year old Thai player Tamarine Tanasugarn on Wednesday. Tanasugran’s climb to the quarterfinals at last year’s Wimbledon was her best performance at a Grand slam tournament at present.
“I just want to sort of get my way through the rounds and just feel more comfortable match after match,”Ivanovic said after three aces to her favor on the center court. Today I think I served some aces, which gave me some confidence in my serve, and that’s something I’ve been working on.”
Although apprehensive about playing in front of Serbian president Boris Tadjic, Ivanovic was confident that she can still feel comfortable and enjoy the match, especially because she was playing on clay, one of her favorite surfaces.
“I really enjoy playing on clay and enjoy playing here in Paris,” Ivanovic said.
You know, some days you don’t feel great, but you still have to sort of work through it. That’s what I did a little bit today and just, you know, try to enjoy it still,” the 21-year old said.
