Frank de Boer has reiterated his desire to remain with Ajax Amsterdam despite his stocks rising again after the club claimed a third straight Dutch title this weekend.

The former Netherlands international has guided Ajax to three consecutive Eredivisie crowns and has been linked with big clubs elsewhere in the past, including Liverpool.

However, de Boer played down any talk of a move away from Amsterdam.

“I heard about it but the only one who directly approached me was Liverpool,” De Boer said.

“When they called, I requested a day to think about it but I knew already that I did not want leave Ajax at this moment.

“Liverpool is a great club where I could work well with my vision but I am not ready to take that step.”

De Boer’s coaching feats with Ajax have him among the greats of the club such as Rinus Michels and Louis van Gaal.

“It is fantastic to be named with such legendary coaches at my age,” de Boer, 42, said.

“Especially because I consider Ajax as my club and it gives me pride to have my contribution to these new successes.”
