Klopp: Dortmund Always Keep It Exciting

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted there were some tense moments as his side squeezed past Real Madrid to book a place in the final of the UEFA Champions League after conceding two goals in the final 10 minutes.

The 2011-12 German champions had taken a 4-1 first leg advantage into the clash but faced a stern test away at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Dortmund held Real goalless for 83 minutes before late strikes from Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos ensured a tense finale but BVB edged past the highly-fancied Spaniards.

“It was a bit dramatic in the end, despite the fact we had a lot of counterattacks that led to opportunities to take the lead,” Klopp said.

“We knew that Madrid would take an aggressive approach and we managed to calm things down after 20–25 minutes, but we definitely have ourselves to blame for allowing Madrid back into the game as we missed a couple of sitters.

“Dortmund apparently are an all-inclusive club, so we always make things exciting, one way or another.”

Real manager Jose Mourinho regretted not managing to hit the back of the net earlier in the second leg.

“We were close. If we had scored earlier, we would have had more opportunities, but football is about scoring goals,” the Portuguese said.

“The Bernabéu was fantastic, they believed until the end, but we didn’t make it.”
