Sabella Wants Grounded Argentina
Article info

Argentina boss Alejandro Sabella says his side dominated Tuesday’s 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw away to Bolivia at 4000m above sea level.

The contest, played in high altitude, missed their chance to all but seal World Cup qualification but remained in top spot in South America, four points ahead of Ecuador who defeated Paraguay 4-1 on Tuesday.

Marcelo Moreno had put the Bolivians ahead after 26 minutes, but Ever Banega produced a pinpoint header to level shortly before the break.

“We dominated the match and were solid in all areas of the pitch,” Sabella said.

“We are now even more optimistic than we were before but we still haven’t qualified. We can’t get ahead of ourselves.”

Meanwhile, Uruguay’s 2-0 loss away to Chile saw them slip to sixth, while Venezuela moved into fifth with a 1-0 win over Colombia.
