Europe’s second their football competition the Europa League will continue with the round of 16 when Portuguese side Benfica take on French Ligue side Bordeaux. The game is set to be played at the Estadio Da Luz on March 7, 2013 at 20.05 GMT.

Benfica enter this game as firm favourites based on recent form with five consecutive victories of which four were clean sheets. Benfica’s main striker Oscar Cardozo will be a threat in front of goal.

Benfica has been a part of many historic European nights, proving tough opponents for the biggest of teams. Argentine Nicolas Gaitan will have a lot to do in this fixture; he has also made the maximum chances to score from midfield.

Bordeaux have not had a good run of form as they enter this game having won only one for their last six games. Jussie has been good upfront having netted on three occasions having being assisted from midfield by Gregory Sertic.

Bordeaux will have to play really well to come out on top and will have to press up field if they want to come away with anything, if not a win at least an away goal.

The last time these two teams played was all the way back in 1986 where Bordeaux came out on the top in a 2-1 victory on aggregate.

When you compare both the teams Benfica looks the stronger team on paper and should easily take the advantage in this game. The game being a home game for them will also be an added advantage.

Expected Line-ups: Benifca: Artur, Melgarejo, Garay, Pereira, Luisao, Matic, Perez, John, Salvio, Cardozo and Lima

Bordeaux: Carrasso, Planus, Henrique, Tremoulinas, Faubert, Traore, Sane, Plasil, Obraniak, Diabate, Maurice-Belay

Prediction: Benfica 2-0 Bordeaux
