Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti admits his side should have scored a third goal and put the tie to bed after Tuesday’s 2-1 UEFA Champions League last 16 win over Valencia.
First-half goals from Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore put the Parisians in control, but they saw their advantage halved late on, with Adil Rami netting from a free-kick, before Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent off, ruling him out of the second leg in France.
“There was no complacency at the end of the game,” Ancelotti insisted after the game.
“We had chances to score a third before [their goal]. At the end there was the free-kick, which we know they are good at, and they scored from it.
“Overall we demonstrated good quality and a good attitude – my team deserved to win.”
Ancelotti also said new signing David Beckham wasn’t far away from a game after watching from the stands.
‘Beckham has trained alone for a week and tomorrow he starts with his team-mates. He doesn’t have a problem fitness-wise and he will help us to get better,” Ancelotti said.
“I don’t know if he will feature in Sochaux [this weekend]. I think Lucas Moura (who suffered an injury against Valencia) is okay. He has a bruise, though I hope he will be okay.”
