Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has refused to concede the Premier League title race despite slipping nine points behind leaders Manchester United following Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
The Sky Blues relied on Sergio Aguero’s magical 78th minute equaliser to earn them a draw after strikes from Reds pair Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard had put them ahead. Earlier, Edin Dzeko had put the Citizens in front.
With United winning against Fulham on Saturday, City have now a major gap to reign in if they are to be champions, but their Italian boss remained hopeful.
*The championship is not over, absolutely not, because of last season and also two years ago,’’ he said. *Chelsea were nine points behind, and they were only two points behind when they went to United in the final week.
'’I don’t think it is finished. There is room for mistakes. I think we probably need to win all of our games, but that can happen sometimes. Last year, we recovered eight points in six games.
“I don’t know why this cannot happen this year. The season is long, three months to go, and United have to play FA Cup and Champions League. We are confident.’’
