Barcelona president Sandro Rosell says the Catalans won’t be selling star striker David Villa in January’s transfer window despite reported interest from several English clubs.
The 31-year-old Spain international has struggled for game-time this season under Tito Vilanova after recovering from his broken leg.
Villa has been linked with a host of English clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham, however Rosell emphatically denied such a move would take place.
“A loan for David Villa in the winter transfer window can be absolutely discarded,” Rosell told Sport.
“He is our player and we need him.”
Meanwhile, former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola has revealed he is eyeing a return to football.
