Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has reportedly turned down a €250 million bid from cashed-up Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Argentine superstar, who netted 91 goals during the 2012 calendar year, was allegedly offered a five-year deal worth a staggering €560,000 per week to join Anzhi.
Messi recently penned a new two-year contract extension at the Nou Camp, keeping him at Barcelona until 2018, however the Russian offer would have made him the world’s highest paid player.
Anzhi, who are coached by former Real Madrid, Netherlands, South Korea, Russia and PSV Eindhoven boss Guus Hiddink, currently have the world’s highest paid player on their books in former Inter Milan and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o. Other big names at the club include Christopher Samba and Lassana Diarra.
