Sports Pundit’s Game of the Weekend Manchester City v Tottenham English Premier League, Sunday 2.30pm (CET)

The Sky Blues were in the news for all the wrong reasons in midweek, after their 2-2 UEFA Champions League draw with Ajax Amsterdam left their European dreams in tatters. However, it’s easy to forget, City are the only club in the Premier League yet to lose and sit third, only two points behind leaders Manchester United, so all isn’t bad. Tottenham loom as a dangerous outfit, sitting in fifth, and having enjoyed a successful trip to Manchester already this term, winning 3-2 against the Red Devils but they were ordinary last week in their 1-0 home loss to Wigan so who knows which Spurs will turn up.

Bayern Munich v Eintracht Frankfurt German Bundesliga, Saturday 3.30pm (CET)

The irrepressible Bayern play host to the newly promoted surprise package Eintracht. Top-placed Bayern will go in as clear favourites but Eintracht have been plucky this term, sitting up in third having claimed 20 points from 10 games this season, however they’ve managed just four points in their past four games. Alex Meier is their danger man, while Bayern are fresh from routing Lille in midweek and are in stunning form.

Lazio v AS Roma Italian Serie A, Sunday 3pm (CET)

It’s time for the Rome derby with fifth-placed Lazio taking on an AS Roma sitting just behind them in sixth. Lazio, who are two points ahead of their city rivals, had been flying this term, but have claimed just one point from their past three games, while Roma crushed Palermo 4-1 last weekend, with star duo Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo among the scorers.

Chelsea v Liverpool English Premier League, Sunday 5pm (CET)

After claiming just one point from their past two league games, the Blues are in need of three points in this encounter against a tricky Liverpool outfit who remain way off the pace. Luis Suarez scored an exceptional goal last weekend for the Reds in their 1-1 draw with Newcastle and they’ll need more good form from him. Chelsea grabbed a last-gasp 3-2 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, with Oscar scoring a stunning goal. The Blues are one point behind leaders Manchester United and need to keep the pressure on.

Montpellier v Paris Saint Germain French Ligue 1, Sunday 9pm (CET)

French champions Montpellier take on the club who are aiming to take their crown this term, with PSG the current league leaders. Montpellier have struggled in their title defence so far, sitting down in 14th in Ligue 1, while their UEFA Champions League campaign has gone poorly, losing 3-1 in midweek to Olympiacos. PSG won 4-0 in the same competition in midweek, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic providing four assists. The Swede has been excellent this term with 10 league goals, as they sit top, but lost last week 2-1 to Saint Etienne.
