Capello: Rooney Only Plays For SAF

Former England manager Fabio Capello has lashed out at Wayne Rooney claiming he only plays well at domestic level rather than the international scene.
The Italian allegedly claimed Rooney, who had an underwhelming 2012 Euros campaign despite netting the winner against Ukraine, was only able to perform well under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United rather than for England.
“After seeing the latest game, I think Rooney only understands Scottish. That’s because he only plays well in Manchester, where Sir Alex Ferguson speaks Scottish,” Capello said according to The Sun.
It was only a few months ago that Rooney said he was happy with Roy Hodgson’s appointment to the England job as there was no chance of losing the coach’s message in translation as he spoke the same language.
Capello’s latest comment may have come in response however he was more forgiving when he said fatigue may have played a factor in England’s quarterfinal exit after another long season at club level for the bulk of the squad.
