Keane was signed by Liverpool from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2008 for just over 20 million pounds and was expected to be a huge hit at Anfield. But the Irish striker has failed to gel for the Merseyside club and has struggled for goals as well as for form.

This has led to suggestions that Liverpool are looking to offload him and recruit someone else instead. But Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has dismissed all such reports and have insisted that they are not looking to replace Keane with anyone else.

Mr.Parry remarked:

“He is a great player with a fantastic track record.

“Maybe it has taken him a little bit longer than both he and we would have anticipated for him to settle in, but I can still see that corner being turned with ease.

“I can’t see it [Keane being sold]. You can never say never in football, because you never know what the next month or year will hold,” he continued.

“But as I see it, he will not be going anywhere. He is certainly a Liverpool player for the foreseeable future.”
