According to the British tabloid News of the World, the former Liverpool darling Owen could be back at Anfield at the start of the New Year. This stems from the speculation surrounding the player’s future, which appears to be headed out of St. James’ Park.
Owen is currently the skipper of Premier League side Newcastle United but he is said to be interested in a move out of the club. Club chairman Mike Ashley has been unable to sell off the club and with the club being in a mess both as an institution as well as a football team, it is speculated that all the major players at Newcastle are seeking a way out of the club.
Owen too is seemingly interested in a move out of the club and is said to have received offers from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City but is still not sure which club he would move to.
Liverpool too shall be looking to sign a top draw striker in January as club manager Rafael Benitez is looking forward to make some new acquisitions to boost their chances both in the Premer League and in the UEFA Champions League.
