Power forward

A power forward performs the very same duties as the forward, but they are usually known to be even more skilled offense men and are more rugged, powerful players. Power forwards are usually rather large guys, thick with muscle rather than particularly tall and built to last, so to speak.

Power forwards play a violent game, checking and crushing the opposing players any time the opportunity presents itself. Usually when you see a fight break out on the ice, it has to do with the power forward.

Power forwards may possibly have other talents when it comes to the game of hockey, so many of them are proficient in other offensive or defensive positions as well. Many of them have the ability to plant their body, checking the members of the opposing team standing still on skates, a feat that not every hockey player possesses. If the power forward has the puck, other members of the team would do well to get out of the way.
