Trevor Gillies is a Canadian winger on the New York Islanders.

Gillies was never drafted by an NHL team, but worked his way into the NHL with over a decade of play in the OHL, ECHL and AHL. Never one for scoring goals, Gillies used his body to help teams win, and routinely put up more than 150 penalty minutes in just about any given season in the minors. In 2000-01, he had 303 penalty minutes in 63 games with the Greensboro Generals. He jumped to the AHL in 2001, playing in the Rangers’ system, and was traded to the Anaheim Ducks in 2005. He played in one game for the Ducks and registered 21 penalty minutes in less than three shifts. He spent the next four seasons in the minors until the New York Islanders called him up in 2009. He played 14 games, had one assist and 75 penalty minutes.
