Rob Scuderi is an American defenseman on the Los Angeles Kings.
Scuderi played for Boston College, where he attracted the attention of the Penguins, who drafted him in 1998. He skated with the Pens AHL affiliate after college, until being called up in 2003-04 to play 13 games. He scored only 4 points in 2005-06, but made a reputation as a solid defensive player. In 2007-08 and 2008-09, Scuderi solidified himself as a top-4 defenseman, helping the Pens reach back to back Stanley Cup Finals. In 2008-09, Scuderi was arguably the Penguins' top defensive asset, making a number of crucial defensive plays along the way. In Game 6 of the Cup Finals, Scuderi made two game- and season-saving saves in front of an open net that helped send the series to Game 7, which Pittsburgh won. His strong play earned him recognition and a bigger paycheck, and Pittsburgh could not afford to keep him. He signed a four year contract with LA that will pay him $13.6 million.
He set career highs in games played (81), assists (15) and points (16) in 2008-09.
