Mattias Ekholm

Mattias Ekholm is a Swedish defenseman on Mora IK.

Ekholm was drafted in 2009 by the Nashville Predators after scoring 13 points in 38 games during 38 games for Mora in the Allsvenskan. He has played in Mora’s junior system since 2006, and had a good season in the SuperElit during 2007-08, scoring 12 points and 54 penalty minutes. He played all of the 2009-10 season in the Allsvenskan with Mora’s senior club, finishing with 22 points an 50 penalty minutes. A big defenseman, Ekholm’s puck-moving ability is impressive considering his large size. As he adds to his game and improves his physical play, he will probably end up making a run at playing in the NHL.

Ekholm won a bronze medal at the 2010 World Juniors with Sweden.
