Mattias Timander is a Swedish defenseman on Modo Hockey.

Timander was drafted in 1992 by the Boston Bruins. He spent three seasons playing with Modo in the Elitserien before joining the Bruins in 1996. He spent four years on the Bruins, splitting time between the Bruins and their AHL team in Providence. In 2000, he joined the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he spent two seasons. He joined the New York Islanders in 2002, scoring a career high 16 points in ’02-03. He began the next year with the Islanders, but was traded to Philadelphia after only 5 games. Timander returned to Modo during the lockout, and ended up remaining in Sweden after NHL play resumed. In 2007, he won the league championship with the team, scoring 18 points in the regular season and adding 9 more in the playoffs. In 2008-09, he posted a career high 10 goals and 25 points, along with 70 penalty minutes.

Timander played for Sweden at the 2006 World Championships.
