Stefan Liv
Stefan Liv is a Swedish-Polish goalie on HV71.
Liv was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings, and spent the 2006-07 season with the Red Wings’ organization, mostly in the AHL. He played his first professional game in the Elitserien in 2000, and has spent his entire career with HV71. In 2001, he was a finalist for rookie of the year, as he played in 46 games and posted a 2.77 GAA. He has beent he team’s starter every year he has played for them, appearing in 308 games through 2008-09. He has a lifetime GAA of 2.52 and has a total of 29 shutouts. He won the award for top goalie in the Elitserien in 2002, and was player of the year in 2008, as he led HV71 to the league title, his second. He holds the record for playoff shutouts in the Elitserien, as well as the record for career shutouts.
Liv has been a consistent member of Team Sweden, although often as a backup. He won gold medals at the 2006 Olympics and World Championships, bronze medals at the 2009 and 2002 World Championships, and a silver medal at the 2004 World Championships.
