Per Gustafsson is a Swedish defenseman on HV71.
Gustafsson was drafted by the Florida Panthers in 1994, while playing with HV71. He joined HV71 in 1988, and played 8 seasons with the team before coming to the NHL. In his final season before coming to the NHL, he scored 8 goals and 21 points. He joined Florida for 58 games in 1996-97, but was traded to Toronto in 1997. He split the ’97-98 season between Toronto and Ottawa and returned to HV71 the following season. His first season back, he scored 12 goals and 28 points. He has played 11 more seasons since then, scoring over 20 points in all but 3 of them. He has won a number of league championships with HV71, and holds many of the club’s individual and defensive records, including most games played and most postseason appearances. He also holds the Elitserien record for fastest goal, after he scored in 6 seconds against Lulea in 1992.
Gustafsson won a silver medal with Sweden in 2003 at the World Championships.
