Janne Niskala
Janne Niskala is a Finnish defenseman on Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
Niskala was drafted by Nashville in 2004, after playing a number of seasons in the Finnish SM-liiga with Lukko. In 2006, he joined Farjestads BK, playing in 53 games and scoring 19 goals and 49 points. The following season, he played in the AHL with Milwaukee, Nashville’s farm team. He scored 44 points with the team, but was traded to Philadelphia, and subsequently, Tampa Bay in the offseason. He played only six games with the Lightning in 2008-09, before being cut and signing with Frolunda. He scored 19 points in his first season back in the Elitserien. After scoring a respectable 28 points in 2009-10, he was acquired by Metallurg Magnitogorsk, where he has scored 18 points in just 27 games duringhis first experience playing in the Russian hockey leagues.
Niskala played for Finland at the 2001 World Juniors and the 2008 World Championships.
