Mathias Tjarnqvist
Mathias Tjarnqvist is a Swedish winger on Djurgardens.
Tjarnqvist was drafted by Dallas in 1999, while playing in Sweden. He spent the next four seasons with Djurgardens. He scored 24 points in his final season in the Elitserien, 2002-03. He played 18 games with the Stars in 2003-04, scoring 1 goal and 2 points. He played with HV71 during the lockout, and returned to Dallas in 2005. He played parts of the next two seasons with the Stars before being traded to Phoenix in 2007. In 2007-08, he played his first full NHL season, scoring 4 goals and 11 points. In 2008, he returned to Sweden playing with Rogle BK. He signed with Djurgardens for the 2009 season. His older brother Daniel also played in the NHL, but currently plays in the Russian KHL.
Tjarnqvist has played for Sweden at the ’99 World Juniors, and won two silver medals at the 2003 and 2004 World Championships.
