Hermansson made his professional debut with Leksands IF in 2000, when he scored 3 points in 20 games. He bounced back and forth between the Elitserien and Sweden’s lower-tier leagues until 2005, when he signed with Brynas. In 2006-07, he had the best season of his career, scoring 8 goals and 13 assists for 21 points.
