Jesse Joensuu

Jesse Joensuu is a Finnish winger on the New York Islanders.

Joensuu was drafted by New York in 2006, while playing with Assat in the Finnish SM-liiga. He spent five seasons with the club before coming to New York, scoring 17 goals and 35 points, as well as 89 penalty minutes in his final season with the team. Interestingly, he was drafted by the Islanders as a 16 year old, the youngest in Finnish hockey history. He played most of the season with Bridgeport Sound, but played 7 games with the Islanders in 2008-09, scoring 1 goal and 3 points.
