Ossi Vaananen is a Finnish defenseman on the Vancouver Canucks.
Vaananen was originally drafted by Phoenix in 1998, and went on to play with Jokerit in the SM-liiga, until 2000. He spent 4 seasons with Phoenix before being traded to Colorado in 2004. Vaananen spent 3 seasons with Colorado before returning to Europe to play with Djurgardens IF in the Elitserien in 2007. He spent the season there before returning to sign with Philadelphia in 2008. He was picked up off waivers by Vancouver in 2009, and set a career high in the ’08-09 season with 11 points.
Vaananen won 2 silver medals with Finland at the ’01 World Championships and the ’06 Olympics. He won a bronze at the 2008 World Championships.
