Sami Salo
Sami Salo is a Finnish defenseman on the Vancouver Canucks.
Salo was drafted by Ottawa in 1996, but continued playing in the Finnish SM-liiga with TPS and Jokerit before joining the Senators in 1998. He had the best season of his stay in Ottawa during his rookie year, scoring 19 points. Plagued by injuries over the next 3 seasons, he was traded to Vancouver in 2002, where he had the best season of his career in 2006-07, finishing with 14 goals and 37 points. During the 2004-05 lockout, he played with Frolunda HC of the Swedish Elitserien.
Salo has played for Finland at 5 international competitions and has won 2 silver medals, at the ’01 World Championships and the ’06 Winter Olympics.
