Joni Pitkanen

Joni Pitkanen is a Finnish defenseman on the Carolina Hurricanes.

Pitkanen was drafted 4th overall by Philadelphia in 2002, and went on to play 3 seasons with Karpat in Finland. He joined the Flyers in 2003, where he had the best season of his career in 2005-06, finishing with 46 points. He was traded to Edmonton in 2007, but spent only one season in Edmonton before being traded to Carolina.

Pitkanen has played for Finland 3 times, winning only one bronze medal at the 2003 World Juniors.
