Steve Montador is a Canadian defenseman on the Buffalo Sabres.

Montador was undrafted after playing in the OHL for 6 years. He signed with Calgary in 2001, and was part of the Flames squad that made a run to the Cup Finals in 2004. He was traded to Florida in 2005, and had the best season of his young career in 2007-08, when he notched 23 points and 73 penalty minutes in 73 games. He signed with Anaheim in 2008, and played 65 games with the Ducks, scoring 20 points and a career high 125 penalty minutes. He was traded to Boston at the trade deadline. Montador played 13 games with the Bruins at the end of the season, recording one assist and 18 penalty minutes. After the Bruins were eliminated in the 2nd round of the playoffs, Montador became a free agent. He was signed by Buffalo during the 2009 offseason.
