Brendan Witt is a Canadian defenseman on the New York Islanders.
Witt was drafted 11th overall in 1993, by the Washington Capitals. After joining the team in 1995, Witt developed into one of the most physical defensemen in the league over the next ten years. He has never scored more than 3 goals in a season, but led the NHL in hits with 322 in 2001. He was traded to Nashville in 2006, but signed with the Islanders in the 2006 offseason. He had his most productive season during 2006-07, when he finished with 14 points and a +14 rating, while playing in 81 games, more than he had ever played before.
