Joe Callahan

Joe Callahan is an American defenseman on the Florida Panthers.

Callahan was drafted by Phoenix in 2002, and continued playing college hockey at Yale University. He jumped to the AHL in 2004, and spent 5 seasons with three different teams before receiving his first NHL call-up in 2008-09. Callahan has played with the Springfield Falcons, Utah Grizzlies, San Antonio Rampage, Portland Pirates and Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL, having his most productive season with Portland in 2007-08, when he scored 24 points. During his call-up with the Islanders, he scored 2 points in 18 games. After appearing in one more NHL game with the San Jose Sharks, where he recorded another assist, he was signed by the Panthers in the 2010 offseason. He will compete for a roster spot at the 2010 training camp.
