Fredrik Sjostrom
Fredrik Sjostrom is a Swedish winger on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Sjostrom was drafted 11th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in 2001, and joined the club in 2003. His best season came in 2005-06, when he scored 6 goals and 23 points for the Coyotes. He was traded to the Rangers in 2008, at the trade deadline. Since joining the team, he became known for his penalty killing skills, playing alongside gritty forward Blair Betts. In 2008-09, he scored 13 points for the Rangers, and was not re-signed after the season. He signed with Calgary in the '09 offseason, but played only 46 games with the Flames before being traded to Toronto in a blockbuster deal that included Sjostrom, Dion Phaneuf and prospect Keith Aulie. Sjostrom quickly became one of the Leafs' top defensive forwards, and will likely be relied upon heavily in that regard.
Sjostrom has played for Team Sweden at 5 international competitions, including 4 junior tournaments. He won a silver medal at the 2004 World Cup.
