Daniel Tjarnqvist is a Swedish defenseman on Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.

Tjarnqvist was drafted by the Florida Panthers in 1995, but continued to play in Europe for 5 more seasons, with Jokerit and Djurgardens IF, before joining the Atlanta Thrashers in 2001. He played three seasons in Atlanta before returning to Djurgardens during the lockout. He returned to the NHL with the Minnesota Wild, but was traded to Edmonton in 2006, when he played only 37 games. He played the next season in Russia, but signed with the Colorado for the ’08-09 season. He returned to Yaroslavl in 2009, putting up 10 points and 26 penalty minutes.

Tjarnqvist has been a consistent member of the Swedish international squad for the past 13 years, playing in 9 competitions, winning his lone gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics. He won 3 bronze medals at the ’01 and ’02 World Championships and the ’95 World Juniors, as well as three silvers at the ’03 and ’04 World Championships and the ’96 World Juniors.
