Andrei Markov is a Russian defenseman on the Montreal Canadiens.
Markov was drafted by Montreal in 1998, and went on to play two more seasons in the Russian SuperLeague before coming to North America. He joined the Canadiens in 2000, and quickly became one of the team’s top offensive defensemen. His best season came in ’07-’08, when he scored 16 goals and a career high 58 points.
Markov played for Team Russia at the 2008 World Championships.
