Nathan Paetsch is a Canadian defenseman on the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Paetsch was drafted by Washington in 2001, but failed to come to a contract agreement with the Capitals, and re-entered the draft, where Buffalo picked him up in 2003. Paetsch broke into the league with Buffalo in 2005, but played only 1 game before being sent back to the AHL. Paetsch pulled a regular shift with the Sabres in 2006-07, setting his career highs with 24 points in 63 games. He saw his playing time with Buffalo decrease over the next three seasons, and played in only 11 games of the 2009-10 season before being traded to Columbus as part of the deal that sent Raffi Torres to the Sabres near the deadline. He played 10 games for the Blue Jackets at the end of the season, and will likely be one of the top 6 defensemen on the club this year.
