Doug Janik
Doug Janik is an American defenseman on the Detroit Red Wings.
Janik was drafted by Buffalo in 1999. He spent three seasons with Buffalo, but played only ten games with the Sabres. He got his first consistent playing time with Tampa Bay, spending the ’06-07 and ’07-08 seasons with the Lightning. He was traded to Dallas in 2008. Janik played only 13 games with Dallas before being traded to Montreal near the 2009 trade deadline. He spent most of the remainder of the season in the AHL, playing in only 2 games with the Canadiens. Janik was part of a blockbuster deal between Montreal and the New York Rangers just before the opening of free agency in the 2009 offseason, and spent only a single day as a Ranger before he became a free agent. He was signed by Detroit shortly after.
