Martin Skoula
Martin Skoula is a Czech defenseman on Avangard Omsk.
Skoula was drafted by Colorado in 1998 in the 1st round. He joined the club in 2002 and was an immediate contributor, playing in 80 games and scoring 16 points his rookie season. Skoula won his first Stanley Cup in 2001 with Colorado. Skoula was traded to Anaheim in 2004, where he played out the rest of the season before returning to the Czech Republic during the lockout. He signed with Dallas upon returning and was traded to Minnesota at the trade deadline of the ’05-06 season. Skoula played three more seasons with the Wild, scoring 16 points in 2008-09, his highest totals with the Wild. His career high came with the Avalanche in 2001-02. Skoula signed with the Penguins during the 2009 season, and played in 33 games for the Pens, accumulating 3 goals and 8 points. At the 2010 trade deadline, he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs along with Luca Caputi for Alexei Ponikarovsky. The Leafs then swapped Skoula with New Jersey for a draft pick. He finished the season with the Devils and had 3 points in 19 games. After remaining unsigned by an NHL team during the 2010 offseason, Skoula joined Omsk.
Skoula played for the Czech Republic at the 2002 Winter Olympics, and won a silver medal at the 2006 World Championships.
