Marc-Andre Bergeron is a Canadian defenseman on the Montreal Canadiens.

Bergeron was undrafted after playing a number of seasons in the QMJHL. In 2000-01, he scored 42 goals and 111 points, earning him a contract with the Edmonton Oilers. Bergeron’s speed and offensive talent have made him an interesting player to watch and a valuable asset to his team. He played a season with Brynas IF during the 2004-05 lockout, but returned to the Oilers the following season, to set then-career highs with 15 goals, 20 assists and 35 points. Bergeron was traded to the New York Islanders in 2007 at the trade deadline. He would finish the season with 46 points, split between the Oilers and Islanders. He was traded on the 2008 trade deadline to Anaheim, in hopes of boosting the offensive capabilities of their blueline. Minnesota acquired the flashy defenseman on the day of the 2008 NHL Draft. Bergeron scored 14 goals and 32 points in 2008-09, but was picked up by Montreal in the 2009 offseason. Bergeron will probably be expected to help boost the Canadiens' powerplay efforts, as he is a good puck-moving defenseman.
