Fredrik Norrena
Fredrik Norrena is a Finnish goalie on Linkopings HC.
Before coming to the NHL, Norrena was one of the most successful goalies in the Finnish SM-liiga and the Swedish Elitserien. He won four league titles with TPS, never having a GAA over 2.94. In 2002, he joined Frolunda HC of the Elitserien and won the league championship with them, posting a 2.42 GAA and a .907 save percentage. He holds the record for the most shutouts in a single season in the Elitserien with 9, recorded during his 2003-04 season with Linkopings HC. He spent three seasons with the club before coming to the NHL.
He was drafted in 2002 by Tampa Bay, but didn�t come to the NHL until 2006. Before ever playing for Tampa Bay, he was traded to Columbus. In 2006-07, he replaced the injured Pascal Leclaire and won 24 games, while posting a 2.78 GAA. When Steve Mason took over the starting job in Columbus with an incredible rookie season, Norrena was waived and signed with Ak Bars Kazan in Russia, where he won the league championship in 2009. He returned to his former Elitserien team in Linkopings for the 2009-10 season.
Norrena played for Finland at the 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 World Hockey Championships, winning bronze in 2006 and silver in 2007. He also won a silver medal at the 2006 Turin Olympics. The 2006 tournament was the only one in which he was a regular starter.
