Oleg Tverdovsky
Oleg Fedorovich Tverdovsky is a professional ice hockey player who is of Russian-Ukrainian descent. Tverdovsky was born on May 18, 1976 in Donetsk, Ukraininan SSR and is best known for being a defender for Salavat Ufa Jualjew, a club in the Kontientalen Hockey-Liga or the Continental Hockey League.
Tverdovsky started his professional career as an ice hockey player when he was signed by Krylya Sovetov Moscow, where he stayed until 1994. During his time with the said team, the club rose high among the ranks and was soon recognized as one of the highest in the Russian league. Due to his excellence in the sport, Tverdovsky was drafted during the 1994 NHL Entry Draft in the first round, 2 positions no less by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
At the time of the draft, Tverdovsky was a player of the Brandon Wheat Kings, and although he was signed by the team, he was able to leave the club due to the lockout which happened in 1994. After the draft, Tverdovsky was signed by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and was soon a part of the club for two years. After his contract ended, Tverdovsky transferred to the Winnipeg Jets and then to the Phoenix Coyotes where he played for three years. Tverdovsky was then called back to play with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim for three more years.
