Prospal signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning at the beginning of the 2001-02 season.

He spent the 2003-04 season with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, missing out on the Lightning's Stanley Cup Victory. He returned to Tampa Bay after the lockout. In 2008, Tampa Bay traded Prospal to the Flyers at the trade deadline as they prepped for their playoff run. Prospal re-signed with the Lightning in the 2008 offseason.
